Speed Management Strategy Review

A review of Herts County Council's Speed Management Strategy has been carried out by council officers, Herts Constabulary and Herts Police and Crime Commissioner's Office. Public Consultation commenced on the draft document at the end of September and closes on Friday 22 November. Please click on the link below to Herts CC's website to read the draft document and to submit your comments. The main strategy changes being proposed are as follows:

•Use mean speeds for determining all speed limits, rather than 85th percentile speeds
•Increase number of roads eligible for 20mph limits and zones without the need for physical measures
•Provide updated case study information on 20mph limits across Hertfordshire and the UK
•Introduce the concept of Zonal Rural Speed Limits
